MotionForge
MotionForge app iconMotionForge — On-device motion capture for Blender

Capture a performer. Export predictable BVH.

MotionForge turns supported iPhone and iPad hardware into a small motion-capture stage: record a fully visible performer, review the skeleton take on the device that shot it, and hand Blender a BVH file that behaves the same way every time.

Coming SoonSupport

Judge the take before it leaves the set

Guided body capture

Record short, single-performer takes with live tracking feedback on supported ARKit body-tracking hardware, so you know while shooting whether the performer is actually being held.

Skeleton playback

Play the captured skeleton back on-device and watch the motion itself — not a thumbnail — before deciding whether a take is worth keeping.

Frame timing and gap inspection

Frame timing and tracking gaps are visible in the take review, so a broken capture dies on the device instead of surfacing later inside your Blender scene.

Exports Blender can rely on

Blender-compatible BVH

Every export is checked for orientation, scale, hierarchy, and timing, so the same take always produces the same predictable, rig-ready file.

Reference video alongside

Each take exports a reference video next to the BVH, keeping the original performance beside the skeleton data it produced.

System share sheet

Exports leave through the standard system share sheet, so takes travel by whatever route your existing pipeline already uses.

Pre-release availability

MotionForge is in active development for iPhone and iPad running iOS or iPadOS 26 or later, on hardware that supports ARKit body tracking. The current product plan includes three saved takes, and capture, skeleton playback, and BVH export are never gated. Lifetime Access is a planned optional one-time purchase that unlocks unlimited saved takes — there is no subscription. The app is not yet available to download, and this page intentionally provides no App Store offer.

Maker note

Why the export is deliberately boring

Motion capture usually fails at the hand-off: a take looks fine on the phone, then arrives in Blender rotated, rescaled, or subtly out of time. That is why MotionForge checks orientation, scale, hierarchy, and timing on every export, and why the review tools live on the device — I want the BVH file to be predictable enough that you stop thinking about the pipeline and start thinking about the performance.

MotionForge questions

What exactly does MotionForge capture?

A single, fully visible performer, recorded as a skeleton take using ARKit body tracking on supported hardware. You can inspect the motion, frame timing, and tracking gaps on-device before exporting.

Which devices will it support?

iPhone and iPad running iOS or iPadOS 26 or later, on hardware that supports ARKit body tracking. Capture is not available on devices without body-tracking support.

What is free, and what does Lifetime Access add?

Capture, skeleton playback, and BVH export are never gated, and three saved takes are included. Lifetime Access is a planned optional one-time purchase that unlocks unlimited saved takes — no subscription.

Do my takes leave the device?

Only when you export them. Capture and review happen on-device, and takes are shared as BVH plus a reference video through the system share sheet, on your initiative.

When does MotionForge ship?

When it meets the studio bar for a complete, honest release. MotionForge is an active pre-release project, so this page carries no App Store badge, price, or promised launch date.
