Follow the thread back to your thought.

Crafted is a notes app for iPhone and iPad with nothing to file. Notes line up by day on a Color Thread, and an open note shows the others that share its words.

Crafted pre-release build on iPhone: the Color Thread, with notes grouped by day from Sunday 11 October back to Friday 9 October, each card tinted with its paper colour and joined by a coloured line
The Color Thread. Every note keeps its paper colour, grouped by day, newest first.
Crafted pre-release build on iPhone: the sample note Ideas worth building open on Aqua paper, three lines long, with Related Thoughts beneath it showing Field guide outline with the words field, guide and worth, and Morning pages with the word morning
Related Thoughts. Under an open note: up to three others, with the words they share.

Pre-release build 26.0.0 (5) with sample notes, captured 11 October 2026. It may change before release.

Ten papers, no folders.

A new note takes one of ten paper colours at random, and you can change it from the note. There is nothing else to set: no folder to choose and no tag to add. Later the colour is how you spot the note on the thread, and the thread can be filtered to one colour.

Paper stays light in Dark Mode. Only the app around it darkens.

How Related Thoughts decides.

  1. It reads on the device Titles and text are compared inside the app, with the word tagger that comes with iOS. Nothing is sent to a server and no generative model is involved.
  2. Linking words are dropped Words such as “and”, “the” and “of” are ignored, and the rest are reduced to their base form.
  3. Titles and rare words count more A word in a title weighs three times a word in the text, more again when it is in both titles, and a word few notes use outweighs a common one.
  4. One loose word is not enough Two notes need two words in common, or one word of five letters or more that sits in a title, as “morning” does here. The shared words must also carry enough of both notes: two passing words in two long notes are not a match.
  5. You see why At most three notes appear, strongest first, each with up to three of the words that linked it. A fourth sample note, Design notes, shares “design” with this one and stays out.
  6. What it cannot do It matches words, not meaning. Two notes about one thing in different words will not find each other, and a note that shares nothing shows nothing: Groceries, among these samples, has no Related Thoughts at all.

Two more ways back.

Crafted Calendar tab on iPhone: a strip of days with Saturday 10 October selected, and the two notes written that day, Gift ideas and Morning pages, with their times
By day. Calendar keeps a strip of days, at least the last thirty. Tap one to see what you wrote.
Crafted Search tab on iPhone: the query Studio finds three notes, Call the studio back, Studio workshop and Studio errands, each on its day
By word. Search reads titles and text. Notes can also appear in Spotlight, which one switch in Settings turns off.

The same thread on iPad.

Crafted is one app for iPhone and iPad. On iPad the tabs move to the top and every note on the thread gets the full width of the page.

Crafted pre-release build on iPad: the Color Thread across the full width, with Notes, Calendar, Settings and search in a bar at the top and seven notes from Sunday 11 October back to Saturday 3 October
The same build and sample notes in the iPad Pro 11-inch simulator.

Preparing for release.

Free
Writing, the ten papers, the Color Thread, Calendar, Related Thoughts, search, Spotlight, and a read-only Home Screen widget in three sizes.
Lifetime Access
An optional one-time purchase with no subscription, shareable through Family Sharing. It adds dictation transcribed on the device, Apple Intelligence summaries and title suggestions where your device and language support them, and Siri & Shortcuts actions that create, add to and find notes.
Your notes
Kept in one store on the device, shared only with Crafted’s own widget. Titles and text are never sent to Crafter Apps, and there is no account. Like other app data, the store is part of your device’s backup if you keep one. Delete Crafted and its notes go with it.
Not in this version
Folders, tags, formatting or Markdown, iCloud sync, and sharing or export of a note. Notes stay on the device they were written on.

Neither the app nor the purchase is available yet.
