Frequently Asked Questions
How do I start a focus session?
From the Flow tab, you can quick start using a preset or tap on any of your saved flows to begin. Choose from 10 built-in presets like Pomodoro, Deep Work, or Flowmodoro, or create your own custom flow. Pomodoro is free; the other presets come with Lifetime Access.
What presets are available?
Flow includes 10 pre-built presets:
- Pomodoro – Classic 25/5 minute cycles with a long break
- Flowmodoro – 45 min focus + 15 min break
- Deep Work – 90 min focus + 20 min break
- 52/17 – 52 min focus + 17 min break
- Quick Focus – 15 minute sprint
- Study Session – 50/10 minute cycles
- Creative – 60 min focus for creative work
- Meditation – 20 minute mindfulness session
- Morning Routine – Warmup + focus + break
- Evening Wind-down – Reflection + relaxation
How do I create a custom session flow?
Tap the + button in the tab bar and add Focus, Prep, Short Break, or Long Break blocks, set their durations, and save. The free version keeps one custom flow; Lifetime Access unlocks unlimited custom flows.
Can I see my timer on the Lock Screen?
Yes! Flow supports Live Activities on iOS 18. When a session is running, you'll see your timer on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island (on supported devices). You can pause, resume, or skip blocks directly from there.
How do I track my focus progress?
Visit the Activity tab to see your daily goals, focus session charts, mood distribution, session history, and scratch pad notes. You can set daily goals for focus time and sessions completed. Detailed analytics require Lifetime Access.
What's included in Flow Lifetime Access?
Lifetime Access features include:
- All 10 presets (Pomodoro is free)
- Unlimited custom flows
- Complete statistics and analytics (charts, session time, mood distribution, scratch pad notes)
- Focus Blocking — block distracting apps during sessions using Apple's Screen Time API
- Advanced notifications (1 Minute Warning, Pause Reminder, Daily Reminder, Streak Protection)
- Apple Watch controls: pause and resume, plus skip and end outside Strict Mode
- One-time purchase — Lifetime Access does not expire
How do I restore my purchase?
Flow Lifetime Access is a one-time purchase linked to your Apple ID. If you need to restore your purchase on a new device, open the app, go to the paywall screen, and tap "Restore Purchases." Your purchase can be restored on any device signed into the same Apple ID.
Is my data synced across devices?
For help with storage or sync, contact support and include your installed Flow version.
What is Focus Blocking?
Focus Blocking (Lifetime Access) uses Apple's Screen Time API to temporarily restrict access to apps and websites you select during focus and prep blocks. When you start a session, selected apps are shielded; during breaks, access is restored automatically. You must grant Screen Time authorization in the app's Focus Blocking settings. You can choose specific apps, app categories, and websites to block.
What is Post-Session Reflection?
After completing a session, you can record how it went by selecting a mood (Productive, Focused, Satisfied, Tired, or Distracted) and optionally writing a quick note. Your reflections appear in the Activity tab so you can track patterns over time.
How do session reminders work?
You can set reminders to prompt you to start a focus session at specific times. Enable notifications in your device settings and configure reminders in the Settings tab within the app.
