SongMap plays an audio file you own and lets you pin a note to the exact moment it is about. Tap the note later and the music jumps back to that moment. It is in pre‑release.

The file was imported and the six notes added in the app. They are samples, and the audio is a quiet tone made for the capture.

The timeline is the notebook.

Bring the audio Choose one audio file from Files. SongMap copies it into its own storage, so the project opens offline and no longer depends on the original. The project takes the file’s name.
Pin the moment Play or drag to the spot, write what you need to remember, and add it at the playhead. The note takes the time on the player at the moment you add it, so pause before you type.
Jump back Notes sit in time order. Tap a note’s time and playback moves to exactly that moment.
Tidy up Reword a note or delete it. Its time stays where you pinned it.

A video is greyed out in the Files picker. An empty or damaged file is refused with a message, and the open project is left as it was.
How it was checked: With the app’s own import check on iOS 27, on 11 October 2026, over one 20-second test file of each kind. One .m4a was then imported through the Files picker, and one WMA was refused there.

What it doesn’t do.

No song analysis yet: This build does not find sections, bars or beats, and it draws no waveform. The app says so on its own screen. Analysis is planned for a later version and is not promised here.
No recording: It works on a file you already have. It does not record and does not use the microphone.
No slowing down or looping: Playback runs at the speed of the recording. There are no loops in this build.
No protected or streamed music: A copy-protected file is refused with a plain message, and SongMap has no music catalog of its own.

Still taking shape.

Where it lives: The copied audio and your notes are stored on the device, with no account. Nothing uploads your audio or notes. The app goes online only for the App Store and for its feedback screen, if you open it.
Not built yet: Projects cannot be renamed, deleted, exported or synced between devices in this build.
Price and date: The free and paid split has not been announced, and there is no price, App Store listing or promised launch date.
