Terms of Use
These Terms describe the pre-release QuietTrace: Sound Journal project ("QuietTrace" or "the App"). They document the current product boundaries and do not promise a release date or public availability.
1. Acceptance
By downloading or using QuietTrace when it becomes available, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. The service
QuietTrace classifies ambient sounds on device after you choose to turn listening on, keeps that activity visible, and stores event labels and timestamps in a local journal. It does not retain microphone audio. You can withdraw or pause that standing choice from QuietTrace Settings, the Live Activity, Control Center, the journal, or the Apple Watch companion; the watch can pause or stop but can never turn listening on.
3. Classification limits
Classifications are estimates and may be incomplete or incorrect. QuietTrace is a personal journal, not a calibrated sound-level meter, emergency, safety or medical detector, surveillance service, hearing aid, accessibility replacement, or source of guaranteed identification. It is not a substitute for Apple Sound Recognition. Do not rely on it to protect people or property, diagnose a condition, prove an event, or make a safety-critical decision.
4. Your journal
You are responsible for managing the journal stored on your device, including clearing it and choosing whether optional private iCloud sync is enabled. You retain ownership of your journal content.
5. Optional feedback
If you send feedback, you confirm that you have the right to submit its category, message, contact email, and optional display name. You grant Crafter Apps permission to use the submission to provide support, improve QuietTrace, and—only after moderation—publish the approved category and message with your optional display name. Your contact email remains private. Do not submit confidential information or content that infringes another person's rights.
6. Lifetime Access and availability
QuietTrace is in development and is not yet publicly available. Its approved Lifetime Access product is an optional one-time non-consumable purchase with no subscription or recurring fee. It unlocks CSV journal export, archive search and filtering, and private iCloud sync. Continuous listening, live on-device classification, the complete local journal, and the Apple Watch companion remain free.
Apple handles payment, restoration, refunds, and the localized purchase price through the App Store. An eligible Lifetime Access purchase can be shared with up to five additional family members through Family Sharing when Apple reports the product as family-shareable.
7. Acceptable use
You may not misuse QuietTrace, interfere with its operation, bypass security controls, reverse engineer it except where law expressly permits, or use it in violation of applicable law or another person's rights.
8. Intellectual property
QuietTrace, its design, and its software are owned by Crafter Apps and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use the App under Apple's platform rules.
9. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, QuietTrace is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of uninterrupted operation, error-free classification, or fitness for a particular purpose. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Crafter Apps is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use QuietTrace.
11. Apple terms
These Terms are between you and Crafter Apps, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for QuietTrace or its support. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them after your acceptance.
12. Changes
These Terms may be updated when QuietTrace, its purchase offering, or applicable requirements change. The date above identifies the latest version.
