Privacy Policy
Your privacy is important to me. This Privacy Policy explains how SmartQR ("I", "my", or "the App") collects, uses, and protects your information.
No Tracking or Advertising
SmartQR does not contain any third-party advertising or tracking SDKs. I do not track you across apps or websites, and I do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
Information SmartQR Handles
Information You Provide
- QR code content: The URLs, text, contact details, network details, or other data you choose to encode.
- QR code designs and organization: Your colors, shapes, logos, labels, folders, tags, and other library choices.
Local Storage and Optional iCloud Sync
Your QR library, designs, folders, tags, and app preferences are stored locally with SwiftData. If you enable SmartQR's iCloud sync, Apple CloudKit synchronizes supported library data between your devices under your Apple ID.
Optional Pro Backend Features
Firebase remains off for free users and for Pro users who use only local features. When a verified Pro user activates aggregate scan analytics or an editable Smart Link, SmartQR may process:
- Anonymous backend identity: A Firebase anonymous user identifier created only for a backend-required Pro feature.
- Smart Link routing: A redirect token and destination for an enabled code.
- Aggregate analytics: The total scan count and latest scan time for an enabled code.
- Subscription verification and cleanup markers: Minimal records needed to authorize paid infrastructure and remove known backend data.
Support and Feedback
If you email support or submit optional in-app feedback, I receive the message and any details you choose to include. I use that information only to review the feedback, respond, and improve SmartQR.
Information I Do NOT Collect
- Personal profiles or a required SmartQR username and password
- Scanner location, IP-derived location, or device details
- Long-term per-scan event history
- QR designs or your full local library in Firebase
- Push tokens or backend delivery metrics for scan notifications
How I Use Your Information
I use the collected information to:
- Provide QR code creation and customization features
- Enable aggregate scan totals and latest scan time for supported Pro codes
- Route supported editable Smart Links
- Sync your QR codes across your devices via iCloud
- Maintain the App and remove known backend data when requested or when entitlement cleanup is required
- Respond to support requests
Data Storage
Local Storage
Your QR codes, designs, organization, and preferences are stored locally on your device using SwiftData. Device backups are controlled by your Apple settings.
Cloud Storage
Firebase is used only after a verified Pro user activates aggregate analytics or Smart Links, or when cleanup is required for a known backend record. The bounded backend data may include:
- Redirect tokens and destinations for enabled Smart Links
- Aggregate scan count and latest scan timestamp for enabled analytics
- Anonymous backend identity and minimal subscription-verification records
- Markers needed to complete deletion or entitlement-loss cleanup
Data Sharing
I do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), I confirm: I do not sell your personal information.
I may share data with:
- Apple: App Store subscriptions and optional iCloud/CloudKit sync are handled under your Apple account and Apple's privacy terms.
- Firebase (Google): Verified Pro Smart Links, aggregate counters, anonymous backend identity, subscription verification, and cleanup use Firebase infrastructure. Firebase is not activated for free or local-only use.
- Legal Requirements: I may disclose information if required by law or to protect my rights.
Data Retention
- Local data remains on your device until you delete the App or the data
- SmartQR does not create long-term per-scan event documents for the current analytics feature
- Backend records remain only while needed to operate an enabled Pro feature, verify access, or complete a required cleanup
- Delete and entitlement-loss flows remove known QR backend infrastructure according to the current cleanup contract
- Support and feedback messages are kept only while needed to review, respond, and maintain reasonable follow-up
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the data I have about you
- Request deletion of your data
- Export your QR codes
- Avoid Firebase-backed features by using free or local-only workflows
To exercise these rights, contact me at developer@crafterapps.com.
Security
I implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:
- Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
- Verified subscription authorization and anonymous Firebase authentication for backend-required Pro features
- Access controls on cloud resources
Children's Privacy
SmartQR is not intended for children under 13. I do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe I have collected such information, please contact me.
Changes to This Policy
I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. I will notify you of significant changes through the App or by updating the "Last updated" date.
Apple App Store
SmartQR is distributed through the Apple App Store and complies with Apple's App Store Guidelines. For information about how Apple handles your data, please see Apple's Privacy Policy.
