Archive is for people who want a dependable document scanner without creating an account or sending their paperwork to a document cloud. Capture a few pages, give the document a useful name, find it later, and hand off a clean PDF when somebody asks for it.
Not a collaboration system
Archive has no shared workspace, browser portal, document cloud, multi-user approval flow, or automatic backup service. Export is explicit and uses the normal iOS share flow.

From camera to a document you can recognize
Apple’s document scanner captures single- or multi-page paperwork. Archive stores the resulting pages in a local SwiftData library, where you can rename, review, reorder, or delete them instead of leaving anonymous scans scattered through Photos.

On-device OCR turns a scan into something searchable
Lifetime Access recognizes text locally on the iPhone. Search inside unlocked documents, interact with detected text through Live Text, use recognized content to help name a scan, or include a searchable text layer in a PDF—all without uploading the document for recognition.
OCR quality still depends on the original page, lighting, focus, language, and handwriting. Archive keeps the result reviewable rather than presenting recognition as infallible.

Document data
Archive has no document account, advertising profile, behavioral analytics SDK, or document-cloud upload. Scans, page data, OCR results, tags, and document history are processed and stored on the iPhone unless you deliberately export them.

If you choose the in-app feedback form, the name, email address, message, and priority you enter are sent so Daniel can review and respond. That support channel is not part of document storage. See the full privacy policy for the current handling details.
Maker note
Why Archive has no document account
A scanner should shorten the path from paper to a useful file. Requiring an account would add another place for sensitive paperwork to live and another service the app would have to justify. Archive stays deliberately personal: local capture and organization first, explicit export when you decide to share.

Does Archive upload my scans?
No. Document capture, storage, OCR, organization, and search are local to your iPhone. A document leaves through an export or share action you initiate.
What can I do without Lifetime Access?
You can scan, save, view, rename, delete, search by document name, export a basic PDF, and use biometric locking. Lifetime Access is for OCR, deeper organization, editing, and advanced export workflows.
Can Archive sync documents between devices?
No. Archive is an iPhone-only local library and does not provide document cloud sync or a web portal. Export important files to the destination or backup system you trust.
What does biometric locking protect?
Until Face ID or Touch ID succeeds, a locked document does not expose its pages, text snippets, Live Text, editing tools, or export actions inside Archive.
